In memory of all those we've lost,

One year ago today, on 6th of February, Türkiye was shaken by two of the largest earthquakes in its history. These two earthquakes, centred in Kahramanmaraş and 9 hours apart, opened wounds that deeply affected the whole of humanity.

Today, exactly one year later, as the ESN Existanbul family, we commemorate the lives we lost with painful memories.

In these earthquakes, which deeply shook the Republic of Türkiye, 11 cities were damaged, tens of thousands of our citizens were lost and millions of our citizens were affected.

As part of the Erasmus Student Network, we felt the support and help of the whole of Europe and the world. The borders between us were broken and all of humanity was connected. Even today, we are proud to have this healing bond and to be part of such a student union.

We embrace with love all our international friends who have tried to help us with their donations and loving behaviour.

Our sincere thanks go to the international search and rescue teams who left their families and countries and travelled many kilometers away.

Search and rescue teams who left their families without a second thought to help,
Our friends with paws who help find people after hours,
Our paramedics who fight with all their hearts
And the people of our country who remind the whole world of the goodness in their hearts...
The word 'thank you' cannot be equal to your sacrifice, but... THANK YOU.
